Celebrating CILCSA Board Member Desi Logsdon: A Beacon of Corporate Citizenship

Today, we’re shining a spotlight on an exceptional leader and advocate for community engagement—Desi Logsdon, senior vice president of corporate citizenship at Bunn-O-Matic Corporation and a valued board member of CILCSA. Desi’s tireless dedication to making a positive difference in our community exemplifies the spirit of corporate citizenship that BUNN embodies.

Since joining BUNN in 1986, Desi has played a pivotal role in driving the company's mission to act with purpose and enhance the lives of individuals and communities. As outlined on BUNN's website, their commitment to corporate citizenship is deeply ingrained in their operations. This ethos encourages employees to engage in volunteer and philanthropic activities, and BUNN even offers paid time off for employees to participate in approved initiatives.

Desi emphasizes the profound impact volunteering has on employees, stating, “When our employees are encouraged to volunteer, it gives them a sense of well-being and pride knowing they are making a positive difference in the communities where we live and work.” This belief fosters a culture of connection and teamwork among BUNN employees, ultimately enhancing their workplace environment.

One of the many ways BUNN demonstrates its commitment to the community is through its quarterly donations of ground beef from the BUNN Family Quarter B Farm to various organizations that serve those in need. This generous support has benefited numerous local initiatives, including Motherland Gardens Community Project and Helping Hands of Springfield.

A Taste of Impact

Yves Doumen, founder of Motherland Gardens, shared how BUNN's support has enabled them to cultivate fresh produce for Springfield’s east-side neighborhoods. The financial sponsorship and volunteer work, such as fencing projects, have allowed them to produce and distribute food to hundreds of families in need.

Jilnita Johnson from Helping Hands of Springfield echoed these sentiments, highlighting how BUNN’s contributions have positively affected their agency. “We are supplied quarterly with beef, which allows our on-site kitchen staff to serve items that we otherwise would not be able to afford,” she said, recounting the joy of clients who had been requesting meatloaf.

Desi’s commitment to community service is not just about donations; it’s about creating memorable experiences for those in need. When Lynn Eck from the YMCA of Springfield reached out for support for unhoused children, Desi organized a field trip to BUNN Farms, leaving a lasting impression on the campers. “It is a trip they are still talking about and will not forget anytime soon,” Eck said.

Building Bridges

Desi understands that many employees want to get involved in community initiatives but may not know how. She actively seeks out volunteer opportunities and connects them with employees who are eager to help. Her ability to foster relationships within the community has led to innovative projects like home repairs for low-income residents, initiated by Jeff Kadyk from BUNN’s engineering team.

Desi’s vision for corporate citizenship extends beyond regular outreach efforts, such as the United Way Day of Action and Meals on Wheels. She believes in evaluating community needs and mobilizing BUNN’s resources to create meaningful change.

“It is so rewarding to work for a company that allows you to volunteer and lean into our community,” Desi remarked.

As a founding board member of CILCSA, Desi Logsdon continues to inspire others through her unwavering commitment to corporate responsibility and community engagement. We applaud her for being a champion of positive change and for her significant contributions to our community.

Thank you, Desi, for all that you do!
